What to eat instead

Gravy and Sauces Imaginative quick sauces can be produced from soups, tomato juices, milk etc. Marmite or Tamari sauce may be used instead of stock cubes and arrowroot or cornflour used as a thickener.
Sausages Many butchers will make up wheat free sausages or they may be obtained from 'wheat free' counters in supermarkets.

MENU IDEAS

BREAKFAST Porridge
Homemade muesli using Oats/ /Rye
Scrambled eggs
Toasted 'bread' made from alternative flours
Smoked Haddock
Rice cakes, Ryvita or Corn Thins with honey/marmalade
Live yogurt mixed with fresh fruit
LUNCH Vegetable Soup (homemade or 'wheat free')- can be taken to work in a flask
Salads - made from a variety of leafy salad vegetables, red pepper, chopped raw vegetables, tinned pineapple, rice/pasta, nuts etc with a dressing made from oil - ideas for different tasty salads are endless, can be taken to work in plastic containers (pack dressing separately).
Ryvita/Rice Cakes/Corn Thins with: Cheese, Tuna, Tinned Sardines, Prawns and a little paprika pepper
Live yogurt with fruit
Fresh Fruit
EVENING MEAL Most homemade dishes can be easily adapted to omit wheat and substitute it with an allowed grain
Salmon/Trout/Mackerel cooked in foil
Plaice cooked in covered dish on a bed of sliced tomatoes
Grilled Lamb Chops with ratatouille
Home-made spaghetti bolognaise with rice pasta
Potatoes/brown rice/pasta
Plenty of vegetables (including leafy ones)
Fruit
