OUR APPROACH
This approach is not a form of Alternative Medicine. All of us need the right food and drink to function properly. You cannot expect to be able to treat illness and ill health and more importantly prevent them and keep your body healthy if you do not provide the correct materials to enable the body to do so. Feeding your body with the wrong food whilst at the same time expecting to remain in excellent health for ever, can be compared with the fire brigade trying to put out a fire when someone is simultaneously pouring petrol on to the flames. It is impossible for the firemen to succeed!
When trying to work out the correct FOOD FOR YOU it is essential not just to treat your current problem. You usually go to see your doctor about specific parts of your anatomy i.e. knee pain, headaches or an infection. The doctor will give you a prescription or advice in an attempt to make you feel better. However, invariably what's just being treated are your symptoms and not the cause of the problem. Using this approach we've found that our solution not only benefits the complaint it also improves your body's whole health. In other words, this is a whole body approach not just focused on the part of the body you are conscious of malfunctioning. Currently most traditional medicine and care treats the sections of your body that are obviously unwell, but this is a bit like the fire brigade waiting for a fire to be well alight before being interested in extinguishing it! To work out the best way to treat you through diet, we need to evaluate your condition by assessing the health of your whole body, not just sections of it. To enable us to get to the root of your health problems and find the cause, we ask you to fill out an initial questionnaire before we see you. During your first appointment Dr Anderson asks you for any further information he requires so that he can accurately evaluate what specific approach would be suitable for you. During your appointment he will help you to understand your illness from an entirely different perspective than you may have ever considered before. You will find his enthusiastic and unique approach to the subject is highly refreshing and educational. He will spend time giving you some ideas on how to implement changes that his many years of experience in this field, will indicate to him are relevant to you. When using our Clinic you can be assured that you are getting the best of both worlds. You will see a conventionally trained doctor who will be able to assure you of the best and safest treatment for you (and this may include continuing with conventional treatment if this is applicable) and you will also have access to a Nutritional Therapist. Dr Anderson will only have enough time at the initial consultation to give you fairly basic ideas to help you. If you are extremely lucky, these may be enough in themselves as many people respond amazingly by making the simplest of alterations. But you may prefer, or need, more detailed Diet Sheets. So, your second appointment will often be with the Nutritional Therapist, Christine, who will go through your present diet with you and help you adjust it to fit in with your lifestyle. She will put together detailed sheets for you and help you with recipes if you require. Throughout your treatment you can be fully reassured to know that she will be liaising continuously with the Doctor whilst monitoring your progression to make sure that nothing is missed that should be treated conventionally. We are great believers in keeping things as simple as possible for you. It can be extremely daunting to have to alter your diet and lifestyle. With this aim in mind our treatments are graded in stages so that you can carefully wean yourself into a new regime, choosing which stage suits you best which will enable you to keep control over the whole process. We additionally recognise that changes in diet alone may not be the only way you will be able to achieve your ultimate, ideal goals. The mind plays an enormous part. A simple example of this being that it will be impossible to lose weight if you reach for the biscuit tin every time you are stressed. You know this to be the case but can't stop yourself from doing so despite all your good intentions. You will not be able to move forward until you have addressed this issue.
